Memory Bank Shawl

This shawl is named for my Soul Twin, met in my 1st place of employment, which happened to be a Bank, many years ago when we were both fresh out of high school. We quickly discovered we were 'twins' to different parents, and a friendship was born. Since those days, which were really rather short, we have lived in different parts of the country for MANY years, and although we have kept in touch, have actually seen each other very little. BUT ... in a few short weeks I am flying to Wellington to stay with her for a weekend, and we will make up for that, by having a special celebration of life in recognition of our recent 60th birthday - and our lovely, long friendship! We may even wear our shawls out in public together (yes, I made her one and sent it down to her!) - so who knows?! It will be fun!
So, without further ado, I present to you -
the Memory Bank Shawl ... my very 1st Crochet Design!

This shawl is a symmetrical triangle, worked from the centre out, increasing in size with every one of it's 41 rows. It's a very versatile piece and looks good in any yarn! I also made one in a solid colour and absolutely love it. The shawl you see here was my first and is made from a Debbie Bliss Cotton DK Print which is quite a lovely tonal pink. Sadly I think this yarn is discontinued now. I purchased it from the Black Sheep Wools lovely big stand at the 2018 Knitting & Stitching Show in London - and that's another (incredible) story I won't go into here. Maybe another day?!
Worked in DK/Light Worsted Yarn the shawl uses less than 400 m/ 438 yards. The pdf download is 6 pages and is completely written out. It is aimed at those with some considerable crochet experience, as there are a few little 'tricky' bits that might prove off putting to the learner. But if you like to live dangerously .... please don't say you weren't warned!
Sorry, there are no charts with this pattern - baby steps for me here, please be gentle! It does however, have UK and USA Terminology, and has been tested in both. I have also, of course, attempted to make it as easy to read as possible. THAT was the hard part and I'm SO, so glad it is finally ready to go! Seriously, I am in awe of crochet designers who keep producing great patterns. I think I might not be doing another crochet design for quite some time. I need to recover!
In short, and all you really need to know is this:
the Memory Bank Shawl is...
... economical to whip up
... fun to whip up.
... quick to whip up.
(for the experienced!)
Here is a link to the pattern on Ravelry, where you will find more details on what type of yarn and hook size is required. This design will be published on the other sites I use in due course. That I have mad it this far, with this design is nothing short of a miracle I do believe!
Please also, do join me in my new Ravelry Group - which I recently started. For anyone who is not yet aware I have decided to do away with the Facebook Group and concentrate on the Ravelry option. My Facebook and Instagram Pages are still functioning, so please join me there also, if you haven't already. I would love to have you on board.
