Another Colour Work Hat

Wow, what a great response to my Gazillion Hat design! Thanks so much to those of you who purchased the pattern. It is proving very much to be a design win. And now, following on from that, I have another stranded, colour work hat design for you. Meet Sipid!

The word Sipid, usually refers to something which has either a pleasing taste or flavour (in the case of food), or ... something possessing agreeably, distinctive character, which seems to me to be a very apt description of this simple, but striking 2 colour design. As I was designing and knitting this hat, I found myself often thinking about the fact that sometimes less IS more, and how the simple things in life are also often those things which help to bring balance back after a period of uncertainty or trauma. Which many of us will know something about!

This design covers 5 sizes, from baby (6-12 mths) upwards, and the prototype for this design was (also) constructed using the popular, New Zealand made yarn, Southlander DK, which is a lovely, affordable yarn produced and sold by Skeinz in Napier. Any DK weight yarn that gives good stitch definition is of course suitable. Southlander DK fits the bill nicely!

There are only 2 colours working together in this hat. Using 2 simple charts, and written instructions on how to use the charts, and also for the rest of the hat, the pattern is easily worked and very intuitive once you have done a few rows. There are no long floats to worry about, so, like Gazillion, it is also a great beginner friendly colour work design.
